Founded in 2018, Logiq has grown rapidly to a team of over 175 specialists, establishing itself as a trusted partner to organisations operating in highly regulated sectors, including defence, central government and CNI. The company specialises in security assurance, system delivery, and secure solutions, supporting clients to deliver and operate systems in environments where security, resilience, and compliance are non-negotiable.

Savient provides software consultancy, development and technical solutions to organisations at the forefront of next generation technology, science and engineering, supporting complex programmes subject to stringent operational constraints and assurance requirements. The acquisition brings Savient’s team of specialists into Logiq and strengthens the company’s footprint in a region at the heart of the UK’s cyber and National Security ecosystem.

The move comes at a time of sustained growth in demand for cyber security across government and defence, alongside increasing pressure on organisations to access security-cleared specialists with experience of operating in highly controlled environments. The combination of Logiq and Savient bolsters the ability to meet that demand with proven, delivery-focused capability.

Sarah James, Camille Mallon, and Ben Sweetman had a fantastic time representing Savient Limited, joining over 1,000 Year 8 and 9 students and 24 industry partners for a day full of creativity, curiosity, and cyber fun thanks.

Our team ran an interactive STEM workshop throughout the day to groups of students including a dedicated SEND session at lunchtime.  It was an opportunity to help students explore cybersecurity and technology through hands-on activities designed to spark imagination and confidence. Our workshop was created by our own T-Level students, apprentices and graduates who were able to share their ideas and making the sessions engaging, inclusive and inspiring.

As George Keen, an University of Gloucestershire Computer Science student, wraps up his placement year with us today, we’re excited to share some reflections on his journey.

Over the past year, he’s not only developed his technical skills working on exciting projects like Savitrace, but also represented Savient Limited at outreach events, inspiring future talent to consider careers in tech, and fully embracing the opportunities to get to know the team and joining the Savient Limited socials. Here we took the opportunity to ask George about his placement year.

What’s been the highlight of your placement year and why?

The highlight of my placement year has been being able to work on the amazing Savitrace team. When I was first starting, they were more than happy to help me at times where I didn’t understand or did not know how to complete a ticket. I’ve learnt so much through this process, and, by the end of my placement, I have contributed to almost all areas of Savitrace, from the UI to the API, and even had a hand in designing features. Still now at every sprint review, I smile when they show something I have contributed towards. Working in a team to create a product has been an amazing experience, and I look forward to continuing in the future. Another highlight has been being able to help in outreach events. I have talked to many students about my time on placement and hopefully have helped inspire them to follow a similar path in the industry to gain experience.

What new skills or experiences have you gained that you’ll take forward in your career?

I’ve learned how to use some of the popular tools, frameworks, and languages used in the industry, such as React and Spring Boot. I’ve also gained experience in working on a team and taking part in scrum ceremonies, such as stand ups and retros.

What advice would you give to other students about making the most of a placement year?

Try as many areas of the industry as you can while on placement. Being in a junior position means that you can get help in places that you are not so comfortable with. Part of being on a placement is also learning what you like and don’t like, which can help choose if and what area you want to specialise in later on.

From coding to community outreach, George has made an incredible impact during his placement year with the team and we can’t wait to see how he continues to develop as he balances his final year at university with his role here at Savient Limited.

It's fantastic to see what they've achieved over the past 10 months. We're incredibly proud of their progress and excited to watch them continue to grow with the Savient team.

The Savient Academy was established in Summer 2020 which is dedicated to nurturing new talent in tech. It provides a unique opportunity for recent graduates or those new to the IT software engineering industry to gain invaluable experience, develop essential skills, and apply their learning to real-world projects. The Academy is designed to offer a supportive environment where participants can gain crucial experience and develop vital skills. Our Academy members directly apply their learning to projects, collaborate with the Savitrace team, and even create STEM workshops to inspire future students about career opportunities at Savient. We are committed to being a responsible employer, investing in individual growth, and offering learning opportunities for T-Level students, placement students, and apprentices whenever possible.

Lucy, George, and Ben, like all our Academy participants, have benefited from a comprehensive learning and development schedule. Our own expert Savient team members led focused training and workshops over the past 10 months, offering hands-on opportunities to expand knowledge and try new skills. The curriculum is extensive and thank you to James Stillwell, Paul James and Hugh for coordinating and arranging the sessions which have covered topics from Java, Kubernetes, and Linux fundamentals to React, SQL, front-end technologies, testing, AI, machine learning, and accessibility to name just a few. Their incredible growth is a testament to the Academy's success and the talented members of the Savient team who made it possible - thank you everyone involved.

At Savient Limited, we're passionate about supporting the next generation of IT and cyber professionals. Over the last nine months, we've had an incredible team whose contributions to creating a STEM workshop we could take into schools. Our team includes T-Level students from Cirencester College, Lucy Smith, our graduate software engineer, Ben Sweetman, who recently completed his Level 4 software apprenticeship, and George Keen, on his professional placement year from the University of Gloucestershire.

As part of their development whilst working at Savient, this team has collaborated to build an interactive STEM workshop. They've skilfully taken an original concept and expanded it, creating a fantastic range of individual IT and paper-based puzzles designed to challenge students on key STEM concepts.

Last Friday, we had the exciting opportunity to deliver this STEM workshop to over 150 Year 8 students at ST JOHN'S CHURCH OF ENGLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL ACADEMY in Bromsgrove as part of their annual career’s day. Our team, led by Lucy, Ben, George, David, and Sarah, transformed the school hall. They set up the STEM puzzles on various tables, creating a high-energy environment for students to work in small, competitive groups. Students earned points for their teams by tackling the timed puzzles, and our team awarded additional bonus points for collaboration, creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving. We were absolutely thrilled to see so many bonus points given out and demostrated how well the students worked together and participated. With our leaderboard developed by Ben, the students for each session were able to see their teams progress and points total and added to the overall fun of the workshops as well as how long was left to achieve those value STEM points.

While exploring engaging STEM puzzles was a core element, our main goal was to highlight the crucial importance of teamwork skills. These abilities are essential for any school project, club, or future career. It was a true highlight for Lucy, Ben, and George to see their hard work come to life and witness the workshop they helped create delivered firsthand to such an enthusiastic audience of students.

Throughout the day, we spoke to students about the diverse opportunities available in the tech sector, from apprenticeships and T-Levels to graduate roles. We encouraged them to chat with us, pick up career pathway leaflets about Savient Limited, and explore future career possibilities.

The careers event at ST JOHN'S CHURCH OF ENGLAND MIDDLE SCHOOL ACADEMY in Bromsgrove was fantastic with demonstrations from tree surgeons, comprehensive talks from the police, NHS, armed forces, aviation, and e-gaming industries. We hope that the wide represented careers, including our engaging STEM workshop, inspired the students to think deeply about their potential future careers and upcoming GCSE options as they head into high school this September.

Savient Limited were incredibly proud to be involved with yesterday's Cyber STEM Fest Bromsgrove 2025 at Bromsgrove School and thanks to Paul James and Sarah James for representing us.

A huge thank you goes to Johnny Palmer MBCS CITP for leading the charge in Worcestershire and orchestrating such a remarkable event. While last year's event was great, yesterdays at Bromsgrove School (a CyberFirst Gold school), was truly exceptional. Johnny, along with Fran Round and Simon Jones form a dedicated and passionate team that created this invaluable opportunity for students to gain insights into the IT and Cyber industry.

The invitation extended beyond Bromsgrove School, welcoming local sixth forms and colleges across Worcestershire and the West Midlands to join conversations.

The appreciation from all speakers for Johnny's vision was evident, and the quality and value provided by all speakers and sponsors were outstanding. You only needed to see the collection of businesses and educational providers present to understand our collective passion for supporting this event.

It was particularly inspiring to have several students, originally inspired by Johnny himself, return to share their journeys. Hearing how they successfully navigated university, apprenticeships, and courses to make a significant impact in their IT and Cyber roles was fantastic. They were eager to share their experiences with current students and continue the conversations and building valuable connections.

The day's agenda featured so many discussions:

🖥️ From in-depth sessions on the Computer Misuse Act and the risks associated with illegal or unethical tech use.
🎓 Comprehensive explorations of Cyber Security career paths from institutions like the University of Warwick and the University of Worcester.
💳 First-hand accounts of working in Cyber Security in the Finance Sector from the team at HSBC.
💡 Practical guidance on navigating cyber career paths, from apprentice or undergraduate to professional, including how to avoid common pitfalls.

We were especially delighted that Paul James, Innovation Director at Savient Limited, shared his expertises about "What they don’t teach you about the Tech Industry" and top tips for career success, offer valuable insights on leveraging platforms like LinkedIn and GitHub for career development and how to get ahead in the fast pace industry of tech.

As the summer term draws to a close, we're eagerly anticipating the next plans for when schools return in September. We're keen to explore how Savient Limited can continue to support students in considering a career in STEM and working with Johnny Palmer MBCS CITP to make this happen for the future generation - watch this space!

This week, the team came together to focus on mental health, connection, and community which is the theme of this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week.

Throughout the week we have reflected on what community means to each of us. Whether it’s found at work, through shared interests, family, friends, or even music and how those connections support our wellbeing.

As part of giving back, we partnered with Cheltenham Borough Council to organise litter picking at lunchtime throughout the week across Cheltenham town centre. Huge thanks to everyone who took part and helped keep our local area clean and to the Council for kindly loaning us the equipment. Getting outside, making a positive impact, and spending time with colleagues reminded us that even small acts can make a big difference to our environment, our mindset, and each other.

We also shared daily wellbeing resources internally, encouraging open conversations about mental health and signposting the support available through our Employee Assistance Programme and re-introducing our Mental Health First Aiders.

Mental health matters every day and not just during one week but we’re proud of what we achieved together and committed to keeping the conversation going and support others whenever they need it most. 💚

Why does Savient support T Levels?

Partnering with Cirencester College we have seen have T Levels provide a fantastic pathway for young talent to gain the technical skills and industry experience that businesses need. By combining classroom learning with hands-on work placements, they help bridge the gap between education and employment, ensuring students are work-ready from day one. At Savient Limited, we see T Levels as a valuable way to develop future talent, particularly in digital production, design, and technology roles.

How have T Level students contributed to Savient?

Our T Level students have made a real impact, bringing fresh ideas and technical skills into our STEM outreach projects. Those students who completed the Digital Production, Design, and Development course have worked on STEM outreach projects we have delivered to school children.  Their input and experience helped us to tailor the STEM workshop to be fun and engaging while teaching something valuable to STEM careers.

What success stories can you share about T Level students at Savient?

One of our proudest moments was seeing the impact of our outreach event at Ribston Hall High School last year. During the event, our T Level students shared their experiences of the Digital Production, Design, and Development course, inspiring the next generation to explore careers in tech. Their confidence, technical knowledge, and ability to communicate real-world applications of their learning were incredible to see. Since then, we’ve welcomed students into placements and even progressed some into apprenticeships, proving how valuable T Levels are in bridging education and employment. Seeing their journey from the classroom to industry success is exactly why we support T Levels!

How do T Levels help businesses like Savient fill skills gaps?

The digital and tech industry is constantly evolving, and there’s a growing demand for skilled professionals. T Levels help us develop a pipeline of talent by providing students with industry-relevant training before they even enter the workplace. This means we can nurture skilled individuals early on, reducing the skills gap and strengthening our future workforce.

What advice would you give to other businesses considering offering T Level placements?

Embrace it! T Level students bring fresh perspectives, creativity, and a strong foundation of knowledge. Providing placements is not only a great way to support young talent but also a chance to shape the next generation of professionals in your industry. The investment in their development pays off, as we’ve seen first-hand with our students progressing into successful careers with us.

Interview with Sarah James, People and Operations Manager, Savient Limited

What motivated you to return to education and pursue an apprenticeship in Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (CR&S)?

My passion for CSR and sustainability has always been a driving force in my career, but I felt that further education would give me the depth of knowledge I needed to make a real difference. The apprenticeship provides a unique opportunity to gain industry-leading insights from experts, collaborate with peers, and implement what I learn into real-world projects at Savient Limited.  Joining The Manchester Metropolitan University in September 2024 was at first daunting but the insight from the lecturers, class discussions, and building my network is invaluable. The course certainly felt like the perfect way to contribute to the future of our business and the planet.

How will this apprenticeship help you drive sustainability initiatives at Savient?

This apprenticeship will equip me with the knowledge and strategies needed to address sustainability challenges in the tech industry. It’s all about learning how to make CSR and sustainability integral to business operations. By applying what I learn, I can help Savient Limited reduce its carbon footprint, achieve our goal of net zero by 2050, and embed environmental and social responsibility across our practices. The course provides practical solutions that I can bring back to Savient and implement in my role as People and Operations Manager.

Why do you believe CSR and sustainability are so important for the future of businesses?

CSR and sustainability aren’t just trends—they’re the future. Businesses that embrace these principles will not only contribute to a better planet but also build a more resilient and responsible brand. Sustainability is essential for reducing environmental impact, fostering community wellbeing, and improving long-term success. For me, it's about leading change helping businesses understand the value of CSR, not just as a moral obligation but as a critical strategy for future growth.

What do you hope to achieve by completing this apprenticeship?

I hope to gain a comprehensive understanding of CSR and sustainability strategies and how they can be effectively implemented within the tech industry. This apprenticeship will help me become a stronger advocate for sustainable practices at Savient Limited, contribute to meaningful change, and provide solutions that drive both social and environmental responsibility. Ultimately, I want to ensure that Savient not only meets its sustainability goals but also becomes a role model for others in the tech industry. I’m a woman on a mission to highlight the importance of this subject and why we need to act now.

What advice would you give to others considering an apprenticeship, especially later in their career?

With the everyday tasks of personal and work demands the easy answer would be make excuses as to why you shouldn’t do an apprenticeship.  However, don’t hesitate to invest in yourself and your future. Returning to education through an apprenticeship is a fantastic way to gain new skills and deepen your expertise while continuing to work. The combination of learning from experts, collaborating with peers, and applying knowledge in a real-world setting is invaluable. It’s never too late to enhance your skills and make a meaningful impact—whether that’s in sustainability, leadership, or any other areas where you wait to focus on your personal and professional development.

How do you see your apprenticeship impacting your role at Savient?

My apprenticeship is directly aligned with my role as People and Operations Manager. It’s helping me develop a more strategic approach to corporate responsibility and environmental initiatives, allowing me to lead projects that reduce our carbon emissions and have a measurable impact. I’m gaining insights that will enhance my ability to influence positive change within the company and with our partners. Driving Savient’s long-term sustainability goals is what I want to achieve following the course.

How important is it for businesses to focus on reducing their carbon footprint, and what role do apprenticeships play in that?

Reducing our carbon footprint is not just important; it’s essential for the future of our planet and the success of our businesses. As companies face increasing pressure to become more environmentally responsible, apprenticeships are a valuable way to equip employees with the skills they need to lead these changes. By offering apprenticeships focused on CSR and environmental impact, businesses can ensure they have the expertise to meet these challenges head-on and make a real difference. I’m grateful to the The Manchester Metropolitan University for seeing the importance of this course and providing the experts in the subject matter to deliver the course.

What role do you see CSR playing in shaping the future of the tech industry?

CSR is going to be a defining factor in the future of the tech industry. As technology continues to evolve, businesses in the sector must lead by example in terms of environmental responsibility and community engagement. The apprenticeship has given me the tools to help Savient not only stay ahead of the curve but also to set a standard for how tech companies can reduce their environmental impact and become true leaders in CSR.  At Savient I have helped us to achieve a CSR gold accreditation, international CSR and environmental awards and deliver a successful CSR strategy on behalf of the business – I’m proud of what we have achieved so far but there is more that can be done.

How have apprentices contributed to Savient’s success?

Our apprentices have made a real impact at Savient Limited. A great example is our T Level student, who progressed to a Level 4 Software Engineering apprenticeship with QA Ltd. He has brought fresh technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for learning, which have helped drive innovation within our team. His employer project, as part of his apprenticeship, was a valuable piece of development required by the product team.  Apprenticeships are not just about training; they are about creating the next generation of skilled professionals who add real value to the business from day one.

How does Savient’s apprenticeship programme help fill skills gaps?

I took the route of an apprenticeship when I started my career in the tech industry, so I know skills gaps are a challenge, particularly in areas like software engineering, cybersecurity, and data analytics. By investing in apprenticeships, we are developing talent with the exact skills our business and the wider industry needs. Working with QA Ltd as our apprenticeship provider ensures apprentices gain hands-on experience with the latest technologies while learning from experienced professionals. This approach means we’re shaping skilled individuals who are job-ready and aligned with industry needs.  We also have a great team here at Savient who are all passionate about supporting those new to the industry and sharing their knowledge and expertise.

Get involved—you will be developing the workforce of tomorrow while strengthening your business today. Find an apprenticeship provider that understands your business as well as meets the apprentice’s needs.

What role do apprenticeships play in the wider economy?

Apprenticeships are crucial for economic growth. They equip people with the skills industries need, reduce unemployment, and help businesses innovate. By investing in apprenticeships, we’re not just supporting individuals—we’re strengthening entire sectors and driving economic progress.

How can businesses get involved in supporting apprenticeships?

Combat Stress provides clinical treatment and support for veterans from the British Armed Forces, focusing on those with complex mental health issues resulting from their experiences during military service. When some military personnel leave service, their experiences can’t easily be left behind. Without treatment, psychological trauma can eventually tear lives apart.

✅ Members of the Savient team will be participation in the March in March charity event to further support this important cause.  As well as raising awareness and vital funds for Combat Stress so they can continue to provide therapy sessions and providing a 24/7 helpline to former servicemen and women who rely on their support.

This recognition reflects our dedication to making a positive impact on the armed forces community, and we encourage others to join this important initiative.

In the spirit of giving and making a meaningful impact this Christmas, instead of sending traditional Christmas cards, we’ve made a donation to Cheltenham Open Door an organisation we have supported and dedicated time to help for the last three years and hope our donations go towards support those in need at Christmas.  This Christmas, we are reminded of the importance of community, compassion, and hope. At Savient Limited, we are proud to support causes that make a real difference in the lives of those in need as we continue to have an impactful CSR strategy.

This December, the Savient Limited team did more than just deck the halls—we filled them with kindness by supporting Cheltenham Open Door, a vital local charity that brings Christmas hope to those in need.

Throughout the month, our office was overflowing with generosity as the team collected donations of food, toiletries, clothes, and festive treats. It was heartwarming to see our collection boxes filled to the brim with useful items for those in need.

Cheltenham Open Door offers so much more than just warm meals and cozy spaces during the Christmas season. Their services, which include chiropody, hairdressing, and other essentials, help ensure everyone feels cared for and supported. Their unwavering dedication to the community is truly inspiring.

As part of their Christmas celebrations, every guest will receive a personalised gift bag filled with festive cheer, and that’s where the Savient Limited team stepped in! Yesterday afternoonPaul James, James Stillwell, George Keen, Lucy Smith, Ben Sweetman, Rich and Sarah James were on hand to help pack and prepare over 100 personalised Christmas gift bags. We checked the list once, checked it twice, and we’re happy to report that everyone was on the "good" list!

Cheltenham Open Door is always grateful for any donations and volunteers, especially at Christmas time. If you’d like to join us in spreading Christmas cheer, you can donate directly to Cheltenham Open Door, volunteer your time, or even organise your own collection box at your office. Every little bit makes a difference! This is the third year Savient Limited have supported with preparing the gift bags. This year we had to careful distribute the donations to ensure everyone had a gift bag for Christmas. We understand times are challenging for all but if you can support this Christmas, you will make a big difference to those in need.

At Savient Limited, we're passionate about supporting the next generation of IT and cyber professionals, and in July we ran a STEM workshop at Ribston Hall High School for year 8 students.

For us it is important that our T-Level Students, Apprentices and Graduates have meaningful STEM tasks to work on and contribute to during their placement and last year’s students were a perfect example of this.

One standout contributor to this project was Brook, a T-Level student from Cirencester College, who was instrumental in developing and running this workshop. As part of his industry placement at Savient Limited, Brook worked alongside our team to design puzzles and interactive challenges around key STEM concepts. His ability to collaborate, innovate, and apply both his college learning and Savient’s training is a perfect example of how T-Level placements can empower students to develop essential skills.

Thanks to Brook and the whole team, the workshop was a hit, allowing students to work through IT and paper-based puzzles that foster skills like observation, design, and collaboration.

We have seen the value of T-Level industry placements, not just developing their technical ability but the soft skills which are key for students to stand out from the crowd as they progress in their career.

Feedback “We haven’t met but I am Brook’s mum, I just wanted to share my thanks to you and all the Savient team for the fantastic placement experience that you provided Brook. He is a man of few words, but he enjoyed every minute. I appreciate the time investment that it takes but I know the value to Brook is huge, and I hope he could provide a little value back to Savient too.”

The workshop has already inspired students at Ribston Hall High School to consider a role in STEM and even look at completing a T Levels course at College or Sixth Form from September 2025.
