We’re thrilled to announce that Lucy Smith has joined the Savient team as a Graduate Software Engineer after recently graduating from the University of Worcester with a degree in Software Engineering! 🎉💻🎓
At Savient Limited, we’re committed to supporting the next generation of STEM professionals, and Lucy is the latest member to join our Savient Academy. This internal mentoring program helps early-career software engineers develop their skills through hands-on experience, training, and guidance from our experienced team.
Lucy is joining fellow Academy members George, Ben, and Archie in a unique learning environment that includes training sessions on key technical topics such as:
🚀Java, Linux, JavaScript
🚀Testing, Databases, Big Data
🚀Agile working practices
🚀Problem-solving approaches
These sessions are designed to start at an introductory level and build up throughout the year, ensuring continuous development. Lucy will also be working closely with George, an industry placement student from the University of Gloucestershire, and our T-Level students Ben and Archie from Cirencester College, all studying STEM-related careers. At Savient Limited, we actively collaborate with local educational providers to offer opportunities to students, and it’s exciting to see them contribute to our new STEM outreach workshop for local schools in 2025!
Outside of work, Lucy is also making strides in the tech community by joining WiTCH - Women in Tech & Cyber Hub – a group dedicated to supporting women and allies in tech and STEM fields. She’s been enjoying their book clubs and networking events to continue growing her professional network and recently signed up to the mentoring scheme they provide.
