Summer Keep Active Week 2023

Summer Keep Active Week 2023

Back in February we had our first keep active week for 2023 and it was back for the Summer!

From Monday the 28th August until Sunday 3rd September 2023 we encouraged everyone at Savient Limited to take time out of their busy schedules and think about their well-being and keeping active.

We organised group walks and runs throughout the week from the office to explore Cheltenham during lunchbreaks and catch-up with other members of the team.

Last Thursday between 3pm and 5pm, which is normally our allocated time for our online social events. Everyone in the team was encouraged to use this time to go on a local walk, jog, cycle or swim and if possible, join a colleague who lived nearby.

During the week we achieved 270 miles and well over 65 hours of activities from walking, running, cycling, swimming, yoga and even airsoft! Well done to everyone that contributed to the weeks activities.

In August, it's #National #Wellness #Month, prioritising your self-care, managing stress, and promoting healthy routines. Create wholesome habits in your lifestyle and focus on self-care to feel like your best self!

We can often put our health and wellness on the back burner due to work deadlines, traffic, family obligations and other stressors. Research has shown self-care helps manage stress and promotes happiness. For a happy and healthy life, it is important to focus on wellness and self-care. National Wellness Month was born out of the idea that if we are going to do big things in the world— build our careers, raise a family, further our education, create new ideas, and nurture our bodies — we need to take care of ourselves.

Why is it important?

Doing regular physical activity reduces your risk of having a heart attack or developing heart disease. Keeping active helps to control common disease risk factors including:

❤️ high blood pressure

❤️high cholesterol

❤️being overweight

Being physically active during the week is very important for your physical and mental health. Any amount of physical activity, however small is good for you. Enjoying a walk, jog, run, cycle or swim are great ways to clear your head and stay active and activities you can enjoy with family and friends. Fresh air and sunshine can help to improve sleep, give you energy and improve your overall health including reducing stress and depression.
